Safe arrivals and killer jet lag
Sorry for the delay in writing to you all and i appreciate all the messages of concern.
I arrived in NZ around 7:30 am on thursday morning and for the first time in my life am a foreigner. I didnt really feel out of place until a gentleman asked my on the flight where I was coming from and I replied the United States; not Nebraska, or Kearney or Cottonmill Lake, but from America.
The 13 hr. flight was surprising easy to take. The in flight movies where terrible and I only watched them out of lack of a place to go (other than out the window). They were all kids movies and The Dukes of Hazard (Dukes took first in the worst of the worst…yeee-ha!) The food wasnt bad but I probably wouldnt pay for it at a restaurant. Again the window was the other option.
So am now Sarah and I living in a YHA (Youth Hostel Assoc.) in downtown Auckland. The transition was about as seamless as you could ask for. I soon regretted backing so much luggage, hauling 70+ lb. bags up escalators and in long lines but everything came for a reason and will come in handy at some point. We got to our room (which smell reminded me of the high school locker room after a summer football practice…hmm yummy!) but it didnt seem to compare to the jet lag we felt once we put our bags down. The first day in a completely new country takes a while to sink in. We will stay here as long it takes to get a cell phone, bank account and a car. I will let you know my new number asap.
Well thats about it for me now. I will post more later. Take care and I miss you all.

This is so crazy. You are explaining everything I’ve experienced last year. I almost started to tear up because I miss that time. I can’t wait to hear more about your journey. I will be able to see a second time everything that’s great about New Zealand through you. If you stay on the North Island for a while you definitely need to go bungee jumping off the Aukland tower, and if you are willing to travel a few hours by car, go to the glow worm caves. They are spectacular. Oh yeah and go river rafting if you get the chance. I love reading your little journal:) Have fun!

Good luck, glad to hear you made it safe and sound. I’m glad I got to see you one last time before you left for the other side of the world. Can’t wait to hear about everything, and hopefully see it all as well.

Yoo bro, glad to hear your safe. Lookin forward to seeing some pics. Kelly told me the cost for you to conect to the net, bummer. I forgot to tell you about that from my experiences overseas, although europe was cheaper than your situation. Looks like we won’t be able to talk on skype much now.
Platte Valley got wireless internet; pizza, beer, and wireless net is not a good combo for me. The other guys at the bar love the porn I show them though, just kidding.
How are the sheep? Have they been saying, “Daaaaaaaaaaady” yet as you go by?
Peace and love 2 ya. Let me know what the time differenence is exactly. Take care.

Mike, sorry it took me so long to get here.. great friend right? I’m happy you made it safe, thank you for making sure I saw you before you left. I have started saving my pennies so I can come see you! Be safe, and try to find a Llama… I hear they’re much nicer than sheep… softer…
